TFA: Denver

Finally slept last night after 1 sleepless night and 1 almost-sleepless night to get a term paper done - which, luckily, I did. And this all followed a very busy, fun weekend of bars and movies and dinners out. So I am back to blogging and getting caught up on the rest of life.

What have I missed? Well, Beyonce is schizophrenic. Somali pirates have taken over the world. And, I got accepted to Teach For America and will be going to Denver for two years.

It's pretty crazy to think about and I'm really excited, at least in those few moments when I'm able to wrap my head around it. I have never been to Denver before but ended up picking it because of all that I heard about it, my strong appreciation for the Western states after this summer, and my general love for traveling and seeing new places. Not only will I get to experience living in a new city, but I will get to travel through a whole new region; Colorado has beautiful and diverse landscapes itself, and I will be 90 miles from Wyoming and have the whole Southwest fairly easily accessible.

And of course there's a ton of stuff to figure out, but luckily I have plenty of time. I just made plans to go to Denver in March with my dad to take the necessary teaching exam, scope out the city, and hopefully meet the TFA staff there with whom I will be working. Should be great.

Keep an eye out for posts on TNG from me - one at 1:50 today on Jim Martin, who I've discussed before here, and one tomorrow morning on the weird culture wars of Georgetown.

For now - YAY for Teach for America, YAY for Denver, and I'll be back with more soon...
