It seems that President Bush could be due for just a little bit of redemption. He appears to be handling the transition remarkably well; it's the first wartime transition we've had to deal with in quite a while, and with the economy in shambles as well, this is definitely an important period.
I also felt that he has shown a lot of grace in the days following Obama's win. His speech in the Rose Garden seemed genuine and heartfelt, as well as one in which he put the interests of the country before politics; same could be said of his and Laura Bush's invitation of the Obamas to the White House tomorrow. Furthermore, the fact that his administration (especially Press Sec'y Dana Perino and Homeland Security Sec'y Michael Chertoff) continue to talk about the possibility of terrorist attacks suggests that maybe this wasn't JUST a partisan scare game, and that they might legitimately be concerned that - in the midst of a major change of power - we could be struck.
After such a hyper-partisan, unethical, and disastrously mismanaged presidency, could George Bush be improving his legacy a tiny bit by at least making sure the next guy arrives ready to go?
