Equality

First off, there's the story of a 109-year-old daughter of a slave who sent in her ballot for Obama this week... Reminding me that despite it's shortcomings, America is a land of remarkable stories and redeemable qualities.

Second, on a personal note, I had my full-day, final interview for Teach for America today. I think it went pretty well, and I am keeping my fingers crossed; I will find out if I am accepted on November 17th. And after weeks of research, reading, thinking, applying, writing, applying, putting together references, picking locations, picking teaching preferences, and APPLYING, I am really hoping to have an opportunity to help bridge the achievement gap among American youths. We'll see :-)
