Jesus-Crist '08 is a losing ticket.

Just saw an ad for this book that raises the question, what would happen if Jesus came back and ran for president?

First, there would be charges of nepotism. Clearly he is just running on his Father's coattails, and look how that turned out.

Second, his return to earth would mean returning to Jerusalem or something and destroying all the non-Christians, which would definitely not play well with the Israel lobby.

Third, he has flip-flopped or offered unclear positions on all the major issues - abortion, homosexuality, the death penalty, etc etc etc. Have you read His Work? No one knows what to make of it. It's like he had a bunch of advisers copy and paste their notes together on a three-day weekend.

And finally, there's the whole lifetime bachelor / probably gay issue, which will not fly well with the party's base. They've been burned before.

In keeping with that closeted gay theme, the only positive thing about this election would be his obvious select of Charlie Crist, super gay governor of Florida, as his running mate. But even a Jesus-Crist ticket wouldn't be enough to win over those Sunshine State moderate Jewish votes, not with such a prominent Evangelical Christian at the top.

The Jesus campaign would get crucified in November, and honey, He's been there, done that, and got the Shroud of Turin.
